Yahoo News Coronation Street's Peter Ash shares goodbye message after Paul exit

Coronation Street star Peter Ash has shared a heartfelt goodbye message following his emotional exit as Paul Foreman.
The character was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last year, with recent developments seeing his condition worsen as he prepared for his final days.
Monday’s (September 9) episode saw Paul rushed to hospital as his health deteriorated, with heartbroken husband Billy left devastated after he was unable to see his partner in his final moments.

Following the emotional episode, Ash – who had spent six years on the ITV soap – shared a message via the show’s official social media channels, thanking fans for all their support during his stint.
“Hello everyone! It’s Peter Ash here,” he said in the video, which was shared on X/Twitter: “So, my time on Corrie has come to an end. I just want to say – thank you to everyone for the support you’ve given me over the years and with the storylines I’ve done. I really appreciate it.
“We’d be nothing without our fans, so thank you very much. I’ve had the time of my life filming Corrie. I’m going to miss everybody, but I’m excited to see what’s next [for me]. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everybody for watching.”
The post was met with positivity from several fans, with one writing: “Peter Ash take a bow because you have been incredible all throughout this storyline and portraying Paul, such an unforgettable character, you deserve all the awards.”

“Thank you Peter for performing so unbelievably amazing. You have shone a light on the devastation of MND and sent tears to the eyes of fans all over the country. Rob Burrows would be so proud,” added another fan, referencing the late rugby league player.
Over on Instagram, Ash also shared the thoughtful gift he was given as a goodbye present – a collage of photos detailing his time on the Street.
"Just have to share my incredible leaving gift from the team at #Corrie," he wrote. "Photos were lovingly provided by the amazing @jane_hazlegrove, and the piece was created by the talented artist @justin_eagleton. I will treasure this forever!"
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
