Yahoo News Coronation Street's Robert to be blackmailed over double life
Coronation Street's Robert Preston faces his worst nightmare next week, as his new enemy Jed discovers his big secret.
Robert (Tristan Gemmill) is hit with worrying blackmail threats after Jed discovers that he's juggling relationships with Vicky Jefferies and Michelle Connor.
Jed uncovers the truth when he realises that Robert has bought two different engagement rings. He initially walks in when Robert is placing one of the rings – a cheap replica – on Vicky's finger.

Soon afterwards, Jed breaks into Robert's van and discovers the more expensive ring that was intended for Michelle. Jed confronts Robert with the all-important question of why he needs two rings.
Robert is forced to tell even more lies when Jed confiscates the pricey ring, meaning that he can't give it back to Michelle.
The Bistro boss tells Michelle that his van was broken into by a random person and the ring was stolen. When Craig Tinker comes to take the details, Michelle is confused as Robert admits that he was in Macclesfield at the time.
Later in the week, the police find holes in Robert's story by informing him that they've examined CCTV from the street he claimed his van was on. Sure enough, it shows that he wasn't really there. Robert comes up with more excuses, insisting that he got confused.

Robert's stress levels crank up another notch when Jed turns up at the Bistro, demanding £5,000 in exchange for his silence.
With Jed fully prepared to tell Michelle everything, Robert offers him £2,000 and insists that it's all he has.
Robert also tells Craig that he has found the missing ring after all, but when Michelle demands to know why £2,000 has disappeared from the safe, Robert changes his story and declares that he spent the money on a new ring. Yes, another lie that could come back to haunt him.
Jed also makes a second demand by ordering Robert to convince Tyler to move to Ireland with him. The sly schemer is furious when he later hears Robert doing the opposite, telling Tyler that he should stick around and help Vicky with the baby.

As Jed reminds him of what's at stake, Robert reveals that he has CCTV proving Jed's recent blackmail attempts and will get the police involved if he doesn't quit while he's ahead.
Later, Tyler is upset to hear that Jed has abruptly left without saying goodbye. Has Robert finally seen the last of his enemy? And with his lies getting more complicated by the day, is it only a matter of time before Michelle catches him out?
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
