Coronation Street star Samia Longchambon has explained a bit about her appearance as she joined some of her co-stars to pose up a storm in a number of new glamourous snaps.

The actress is among the ITV soap's female stars who will be taking centre stage in the show this month. ITV revealed that nine of the show's most iconic women - including Samia, Tina O'Brien, Alison King and Jane Danson - will be involved in some of the biggest storylines that will expose secrets, lies and see relationships tested.

And as relationships come under fire, the show gathered the nine ladies at the forefront of the drama together to shoot a bunch of gorgeous new exclusive images.

Among them was Samia, who is famed for playing Maria Windass - nee Sutherland and Connor - in Corrie, and her character has recently faced challenges in her personal life after it was revealed that her son Liam was being badly bullied, to the point his contemplated taking his own life.

Away from her alter-ego, the soap star joined eight of her castmates for a photoshoot which saw the women come together in front of the camera while sporting an array of glamourous pink, red and orange outfits.

Sharing the group shots to Instagram as well as her own individual snaps in which she could be seen sporting an orange mini dress with towering gold heels as she posed sitting down in her chair, Samia said; "Loved this shoot Celebrating the Women of Weatherfield."

The 41-year-old continued: "Bit of #bts.. I actually sprained my ankle just before hence why I’m sat down in the pics. There’s lots more wonderful women that play an important role in making @coronationstreet what it is, so here’s to every one of you, both cast and crew. Proud to be a very small part of this (very big) show."

Taking to Instagram in early May, Samia shared a photo of her ankle that was covered in ice packs. "Fell over and sprained my ankle just before a photoshoot..." she explained at the time in a written message alongside the snap. "Smiled (grimaced) my way through today," she continued before apologising to her co-star for the use of one of her possessions which had been placed onto her leg. "Sorry! Pinched your eye mask to hold the ice pack on @msjodieprenger."
