Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver has shared her "upset and frustration" in a candid new health update on social media.

The Eileen Grimshaw actress, 60, has overhauled her lifestyle in recent years and lost a significant amount of weight. The mum-of-one was hailed "unrecognisable" when she returned to Corrie last summer after a period away from the cobbles.

While scammers tried to monetise Sue's change in appearance, the actress publicly slammed any rumours that she had taken weight loss products as "c**p". She told Loose Women viewers she has actually been diagnosed with a chronic health condition.

Sue's Type 2 diabetes diagnosis first became public knowledge back in 2011, as reported by the Mirror, when the soap star received hospital treatment after collapsing on the set of Coronation Street. According to the NHS, diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high.

A new Instagram post on Tuesday saw Sue team up with a company that makes electronic diabetes management devices, as she shared what she "wishes you knew". She said: "I wish you knew how upsetting and frustrating it can be for somebody with Type 2 diabetes when other people make comments about what they think they should be eating, or not eating.

"It is not all about eating sugar. It's complicated."

She said that stress massively impacts her blood sugar, and said her glucose "skyrockets" before she is about to go on stage. Sue added: "I wish you knew that with diabetes it is not a case of one size fits all".
