Emotions are running high on the first day of Oliver's court hearing, as angry Leanne tells Nick and Tracy they're not welcome. Proceedings don't get off to the best start either when Dr Howarth gives her professional opinion that it would be kinder to turn off Oliver's life support.

Crushed, Leanne heads home to drown her sorrows and ends up making a drunken pass at Steve, who gently turns her down. Lea is left mortified, but she and Steve have to put the awkward incident behind them as they return to court to give evidence.

Leanne fights her corner, insisting that her terminally-ill boy still reacts to certain stimuli, while Steve begs the judge for more time in the hope that a cure can be found for Oliver's condition.

The parents are forced to endure an anxious wait as the judge reaches a decision, and it's the one they were dreading as she concludes it would be in Oliver's best interests to withdraw his life support.

Devastated, Leanne vows to fight on and launch an appeal, but later at Oliver's hospital bedside, Steve sadly admits he can't support her, suggesting it's time to let their son peacefully slip away.

Their fears are founded though, and as Vinny leaves the room, Paul secretly swipes Mandy's cash and heads straight to the bookies.
