Coronation Street's Yasmeen Metcalfe calls Geoff again after his ultimatum

From Digital Spy

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Yasmeen Metcalfe takes matters into her own hands tonight (July 17) after Geoff's latest scheming left her unsettled.

Yasmeen (Shelley King) was baffled this week as Geoff went back to the police station and expressed an interest in withdrawing his statement against her.

Viewers know that Yasmeen is currently facing a charge of attempted murder after lashing out at Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) when he was terrorising her in her own home.

In Friday's episode, Yasmeen confides in her prison friend Lucie Fernsby (Nicola Duffett) about how Geoff wants her to be his wife again.

Yasmeen is understandably suspicious over Geoff's motives, but admits that his recent behaviour has left her with many unanswered questions.

Lucie tells Yasmeen that, rather than waste time worrying about it, she should seize the initiative by asking Geoff to explain himself.

Aware of how badly Geoff treated Yasmeen when they were together, Lucie urges her friend to stand up to him once and for all.

Later, Lucie hands Yasmeen a contraband phone so that she can call Geoff without the prison guards knowing.

Geoff is surprised to receive the call, but continues his manipulative charm offensive by promising that things will be different if Yasmeen comes home to him.

The evil villain even offers to seek professional help if that's what it takes to bring Yasmeen back home again. Yasmeen isn't sure what to believe, but could she fall for Geoff's lies?

Shelley King, who plays Yasmeen, recently explained: "Lucie has a contraband phone. We've already established a relationship with Lucie whereby Yasmeen knows that Lucie has had problems in her own marriage.

"Yasmeen has asked Lucie: 'Why do you keep going back?' Lucie says to her: 'I just do'. So, she knows Lucie has experience – not exactly what Yasmeen has experienced, but certainly she's in an abusive relationship of some kind which she keeps going back to. But she says she's not going to because she's had enough.

"So Yasmeen is also looking at another woman and she's learning from conversations with other women who have been in similar positions to herself and repeatedly so. She is taking that in."

Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
