Coronavirus fears don't stop beachgoers at Bondi Beach despite advice on social distancing
Worldwide concerns about the spread of coronavirus haven’t stopped beachgoers turning out in force for a day in the sun on Australia’s Bondi Beach.
The famous Sydney beach was packed with people on Thursday from surfers to sunbathers, despite global worries that being in crowded areas encourages the spread of Covid-19.
Authorities in Australia have advised people to practice ‘social distancing’, which involves leaving plenty of space between people.
Its advice reads: “Social distancing is important because Covid-19 is most likely to spread from person-to-person,' government advice reads.
“So, the more space between you and others, the harder it is for the virus to spread.”
Governments across the world have urged people to practice social distancing, with many countries warning people to avoid group gatherings and some banning them completely.
But Bondi’s beachgoers aren’t the only people to flout the suggestions, with widespread concerns that people aren’t following suggestions.
