Yahoo News Coronavirus: UK death toll rises by 40 to 144
The number of coronavirus deaths in the UK has risen to 144.
It’s a jump of 40 from Wednesday’s death toll of 104.
A further 29 patients died in England, with three in Scotland and the first in Northern Ireland.
Overall, there have been 128 deaths in England, six in Scotland, two in Wales and one in Northern Ireland.
NHS England said in a statement on Thursday afternoon: “A further 29 people who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 128.
“Patients were aged between 47 and 96 years old and had underlying health conditions.
