Coronavirus news: Pubs hit by 10pm Friday night curfew as 38 new areas added to watchlist

Tesco has become the latest supermarket to reintroduce rationing of toilet rolls to prevent panic-buying as UK coronavirus cases hit another record high.

The NHS Test and Trace app showed that not one single local area in England can currently be considered “low risk” for infection amid a second wave of deaths is on the way.

London has been added to the government’s official “watch list” and Leeds residents were told they faced a local lockdown - including a ban on households mixing - from midnight. The two biggest cities in Wales, Cardiff and Swansea, will be placed under restrictions from 6pm on Sunday.
