"People will die" if Britons break social distancing measures to enjoy the warmer weather this weekend, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said at today's Government briefing.

"This advice is not a request, it is an instruction," he added. "Stay at home. Protect lives. And you will be doing your part."

It comes as the UK death toll surpassed the official figures in China as 684 more coronavirus deaths were recorded in just one day.

There are 38,168 cases of Covid-19 in Britain. Of those, 3,605 have died. The official figures in China stands at 3,326 deaths. Yesterday, the number of UK deaths was at 2,921.

Boris Johnson, who is one of the confirmed cases of Covid-19, has released a video to say that he is still isolating due to a high temperature, and urged Britons to remain committed to the lockdown.
