Yahoo News Hospital patient, 67, 'saved' by anti-vaxxers dies from COVID
A COVID patient convinced to leave hospital by anti-vaxxers died from the illness just days later.
Joe McCarron, 67, was filmed being urged to leave hospital in Ireland by a man named as Antonio Mureddu, who told him: "If you stay here, they're going to f***ing kill you".
The video of the pensioner being 'saved' on September 14 went viral online, but he was reportedly rushed back into hospital just days later and died on 24 September, according to reports.
His funeral took place on Sunday, 26 September.
In the video, former radio DJ McCarron can be seen in a wheelchair struggling to breathe as Mureddu urges him to leave Letterkenny University Hospital, telling him: "We are going home, you are safe. You follow me and stay behind, nobody will touch you’."
In a tense exchange, doctors urge McCarron to stay in hospital, with one telling him: "You’re barely able to breathe now. We want you to stay to help you."
He adds: "I think he is saying something very dangerous. What he is saying is wrong and very dangerous and I think he is endangering your life.
"It’s a very difficult disease that you have, and I’m not lying to you, you could die, but this could be your best chance in the hospital. Getting the oxygen and getting the support we’re giving to you."
But Mureddu insists that medics are lying, telling McCarron: "It’s better if he dies in the house than die in here… he’s going to die with us."
A senior police officer has now been appointed to lead an investigation into the incident.
McCarron's family previously condemned the actions of "Joe’s so-called reckless friends".
