A March 20 article, “Ratty and co threatened by polo centre plan near Wind in the Willows river, campaigners say” wrongly stated that the owners of land bordering the stretch of river that inspired Kenneth Grahame's "The Wind in the Willows" planned to build a polo club and erect fencing which would stop wildlife passing through it, to and from the river.
The plans in fact relate to a private family estate which is being developed in compliance with both the letter and spirit of planning laws. A polo club is not being built on the land and the fence around the property is specifically designed to allow wildlife to pass freely. We apologise to the owners of the property for our error. The article has been removed from the site.
