• An article began: “The number of infants admitted to hospital for emergency care for conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and jaundice has risen sharply in the past decade, research has found.” While the number of such admissions for asthma is high, it has actually fallen slightly over the past decade (Poor community healthcare linked to big rise in infant emergency cases, 24 April, page 2).

• A photograph used to illustrate an article about the sale of an old master stolen by the Nazis used part of the caption provided by the photo agency to describe “American soldiers recovering looted paintings from Neuschwanstein Castle in Austria in 1945”. The castle is actually in Bavaria, Germany (‘Scandalous’ sale of old master looted by Nazis to go ahead despite protests, 24 April, page 15).
