Corrie's dangerous cat and mouse game is only just beginning, as Anna tries her best to play Phelan at his own game. Still shaken by Phelan's casual confession that he's framing her for attempted murder, Anna calls him round to Number 13 with a sneaky plan of her own in mind.

After secretly hitting the record button on her phone, Anna demands to know what Phelan is playing at and braces herself for his latest nasty outburst.

Sadly, you'll have to hold off the "Pat Phelan is over" party for a while yet, as he senses that Anna is up to something and refuses to incriminate himself. Will Anna have to resort to Plan B, or will it already be too late for that if Phelan retaliates against her?

2. EastEnders: The end for Max? (Friday at 8pm on BBC One)

We've waited 11 long months for the moment that Max's revenge scheme gets exposed, but it looks like it could be here at last. It's Lauren who decides to do some detective work when she hears that Ben has found something suspicious in Luke's wallet, relating to a Weyland & Co project.

Lauren doesn't get too many answers when she quizzes Josh and Luke, but when she refuses to back down and looks into the mystery herself, she makes a very worrying discovery over what Weyland & Co are up to. Could Lauren be the one who takes this further and exposes Max's true colours to the Square?

When Aaron tips off Belle about Lachlan's recent bad behaviour – including his anger towards baby Seb and hiring a prostitute – it's not looking too good for the teens' relationship. While Robert celebrates the fact that Lachlan's true colours are starting to be exposed, the backlash sends Lachlan on another downward spiral and he even looks likely to hurt himself in the aftermath.

Chrissie is first to realise something isn't right when her son mysteriously disappears and she starts spreading the news that Lachlan may have taken his own life. With Chrissie facing every mum's worst nightmare, will her fears be realised?

4. Hollyoaks: Mark Gibbs returns (Monday at 7pm on E4 / Tuesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

Hollyoaks delves back into one of its darkest ever storylines as Luke Morgan's rapist Mark Gibbs returns after 17 years away. Luke is spending time with his soulmate Mandy in Chester when he spots Mark casually walking along with shopping bags, seemingly without a care in the world.

Although Luke rushes off in fear – leaving Mandy totally confused – it's the start of a tough journey for him as he's forced to confront the past and deal with issues that he's never properly addressed. Luke confides in Nancy about what's happened, but will he tell Mandy too?

5. Neighbours: Paul and Courtney face a final decision (Wednesday at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5)

Their "romance" started out as a con to annoy Terese, but then real feelings started to crop up and it all got a bit complicated. But any confusion should hopefully be cleared up this Wednesday, as Paul prepares to hurriedly tie the knot with Courtney after discovering that Terese is back with Gary.

Amy gives her dad some harsh home truths when she finds out that his relationship began as a sham, and her tough talking leaves Paul unsure whether the shotgun wedding is really a good idea. Courtney tries to talk Paul round again, but will he really be prepared to go ahead with the ceremony when Terese is the woman he really loves?

6. Coronation Street: Robert gets his diagnosis (Wednesday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV)

With the stalker ordeal now behind them, Robert and Michelle are about to take centre stage in another big new storyline. The show will be exploring testicular cancer when Robert finally gets himself checked out and is told that his lump is likely to be malignant.

Robert goes into denial following the news and even initially decides not to confide in Michelle, although Kym Marsh has confirmed that we'll ultimately see her popular character "support Robert through one of the most difficult times of his life". After being told that he'll need an operation to remove his testicle, could Robert turn to Michelle for help after all?

7. EastEnders: Karen finally gets support (Friday at 8pm on BBC One)

Life is looking bleaker than ever for Karen Taylor this week, as she struggles with a loan shark taking away her valuables, as well as having no electricity at home because she can't afford it. While many on the Square have turned their noses up at the Taylors so far, Linda sparks a change in everyone's attitude after hearing exactly what Karen is having to put up with.

Putting her Queen Vic fundraiser to one side for a moment, Linda encourages the local residents to dig deep for a collection in support of Karen and her struggling family. Could they raise enough cash to get Karen out of this mess?

8. Emmerdale: Cain pursues Harriet (Monday at 7pm on ITV)

After last week's emotional flashback episode, the good news is that Cain Dingle is ready to step up and be a dad to his newborn son Isaac. Moira is grateful for his support, but eagle-eyed Harriet senses that Cain's own welfare is also a cause for concern at the moment.

Harriet's attempts to reach out to Cain end in an argument between them, but the bad boy later regrets snapping at her and confesses that he still has feelings for her, wanting to be more than just mates. When Cain pulls Harriet in for a kiss, will she respond?

9. Hollyoaks: Esther is encouraged to leave the village (Thursday at 7pm on E4 / Friday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

We'll be gutted if Esther Bloom really does leave the show, but it's a real possibility this week as the Osbornes continue to struggle following Frankie's death. The day of the funeral sees Ruby Button return after a three-year absence, wanting to pay her last respects to Frankie.

After causing trouble by kissing Luke Morgan at the wake (hardly the time or the place!), Ruby could make an even bigger impact when she asks Esther if she wants to come back to Spain with her. Could this be Esther's exit?

10. Home and Away: Kat's baby news (1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5)

It's the final week of the year for Home and Away on Channel 5 – boo! While we don't get a specially-written season finale episode like we do for Neighbours in a couple of weeks' time, there is definitely some intrigue before the show bows out for its six-week break.

Left alone in her apartment after Scarlett Snow makes an emotional exit to be with her husband Caleb, Kat doesn't just have the departure of her flatmate on her mind. The Summer Bay policewoman takes a pregnancy test after realising that there could be a very important reason why she's been feeling unwell for a couple of days. It's the start of a big new storyline for Kat, but sadly we'll have to wait until 2018 to see what happens next...
