Is Corrie's Jim McDonald returning with a daughter?

From Digital Spy

We've known for a while that Jim McDonald is set to make an explosive return to the cobbles of Coronation Street and now it looks like he won't be coming alone.

According to The Sun, Jim (played by Charles Lawson) is set to arrive with a daughter in tow – and the news will come as a shock to his ex-wife Liz (Beverley Callard).

In 1992 Liz and Jim had a daughter, named Katie, who was born prematurely and thought to have not survived long after birth.

But The Sun reports that Liz is set to find out from Jim that there was a mix-up at the hospital and their daughter did survive, and was later adopted by a couple who moved to Australia.

After turning 18, 'Katie' tried to track down her birth parents and found Jim via his military records, who arrives on the street with a DNA test that proves she really is his and Liz's daughter.

Digital Spy reached out to ITV about the storyline, who declined to comment.

Jim McDonald was last seen on the soap in 2011, when he was sent to prison after being jailed for armed robbery after trying to rob a building society so Liz could buy the Rovers.

Actor Charles Lawson confirmed his return to the street earlier this year, saying: "They wanted me back full time this year, but I couldn't do it as I am doing Rebus on stage and a thriller.

"I'm going to film a bit but then will be back again next year."

A spokesperson for the soap added: "Jim is such a hugely popular character. We're delighted he is coming back for what will be a typically explosive Jim storyline."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
