Coronation Street's Kym Marsh has hit back at tabloid reports claiming to reveal how much the biggest soap stars are paid, calling them "complete rubbish".
Following a flurry of stories last week that claimed to list various actors' salaries on soaps such as Coronation Street and EastEnders, Kym has spoken out to clarify our suspicions: it's all nonsense.
In her column for OK! magazine, Kym – who plays Michelle Connor in Corrie – wrote: "I have no idea where the story has come from but it's complete rubbish that someone has made up!
"But why is it anybody's business anyway? They're my wages! I have no idea what anyone else on the cast earns and nor would I ever ask because it's a private matter."
The actress has recently opened up about being a victim of catfishing, revealing that she's campaigning to make catfish scams a criminal offence in the UK.
"The campaign to stop catfishing has gathered momentum since my appearance on Loose Women last week," she wrote.
"I love going on the show but I was a bit nervous as I was talking about something serious and I really wanted to get my message across clearly.
"There's been a good response and lots of people have tweeted me to say that it should be made illegal to impersonate someone on social media."
