1. Coronation Street: Chesney is shocked by news of a death (Wednesday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV)

Corrie's Chesney is rushed back into hospital this week after pushing himself too hard and returning to work earlier than planned, which leads to him collapsing at the kebab shop. Tragically though, that's the least of his worries when he later receives news that his ex-girlfriend Katy Armstrong has died in Portugal.

Soapland's latest off-screen death has a big impact on life in Weatherfield, with Chesney putting his own health dramas to one side as he springs into action in order to be there for his young son Joseph. Sinead is deeply moved by his dedication – will this cement her future with Ches even though she still has feelings for Daniel?

2. EastEnders: Stacey's baby arrives early (Monday at 8pm on BBC One)

The duff-duffs just keep coming for EastEnders' Stacey at the moment – and with Lacey Turner continuing to deliver standout performances, we're certainly not complaining. After last Friday's episode ended with Stace collapsing due to a seizure, there's an equally dramatic aftermath this week as she's rushed to hospital and told that there are complications with her pregnancy.

When Stacey is rushed off for an emergency c-section, her baby daughter is delivered safely – but the new arrival remains in a critical condition in the days that follow. After an anxious wait, will there be a happy outcome for Stacey and Martin?

3. Hollyoaks: Special self-harm episode (Tuesday at 7pm on E4 / Wednesday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

Hollyoaks airs one of its strongest episodes of the year this week, as the show delves deeper into Lily Drinkwell's self-harm storyline. When Hollyoaks High headteacher Mrs St Claire becomes suspicious that either Lily, Peri or Yasmine is hurting themselves, she calls Diane, Leela and Misbah to the school in the hope of finding out more.

Sally's intervention paves the way for a special "Three Mothers, Three Daughters" episode, telling the dark story from six different perspectives. Things will get worse for Lily and her frenemies before they get any better, but how long before the three mums realise exactly what's going on?

4. Emmerdale: Robert's risky plan puts Chrissie in danger (Thursday at 7pm and 8pm on ITV)

With so much focus on the Bartons in Emmerdale at the moment, we'd almost forgotten about Robert's increasingly-bonkers plans to seize control of Home Farm. After a couple of quiet weeks on that front (awfully nice of him to give us a break while we try to figure out who killed Emma), Rob's scheming is back in full force as he fights to stay in control.

A challenging week for Robert sees Chrissie and Rebecca start getting dangerously close to the truth about what he's up to. The return of Chrissie's uncle Tim Richards doesn't bode well either, until Robert comes up with a crazy way to drag him into his scheming.

Robert reckons Chrissie will trust him forever more if he saves her life, so he asks Tim to drive straight for her in the road. What could possibly go wrong?

5. Neighbours: Hamish's scheming takes a shocking turn (Wednesday at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5)

Horrible Hamish has seemed more annoying than threatening so far, but that all changes this week as we get a rather worrying glimpse of what he's capable of. The darkest twist yet in Hamish's storyline begins when his partner-in-crime Louise gives him an ultimatum, warning that she'll expose his true colours to Tyler unless they leave town within 24 hours.

The next thing we know, Louise is being rushed to hospital after being found unconscious, with her phone, purse and Epi-Pen nowhere to be seen. What did Hamish do to her?

6. Coronation Street: Billy's dark side is revealed (Monday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV)

Making a daring bid to be featured in our next feature on overnight personality changes, Corrie vicar Billy Mayhew shows his nastier side in a shock showdown with Peter Barlow. The trouble unfolds after Simon unwittingly supplies Summer with a Spice cigarette, causing her to collapse in the ginnel when she foolishly decides to smoke it.

Once Simon's guilt in the situation is exposed, Billy reacts badly by punching Peter to the ground in an angry outburst. Will this jeopardise Billy and Todd's adoption plans when the police find out what happened? Will Todd have a rare chance to take the moral high ground with Billy?

7. EastEnders: Jane announces she's leaving Walford (Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One)

Jane may have survived last month's stunt week, but her future in Walford is left hanging by a thread as she tells her husband Ian that she never wants to return to Albert Square. She drops the bombshell after being spooked by more threats from mad Max Branning, who's determined to make sure she keeps quiet about his revenge plan.

Supportive Ian stands by Jane and promises to move away with her, but he's later left devastated when she suddenly changes her mind and insists that she wants to start a new life without him. What prompts her sudden change of heart?

8. Emmerdale: Vanessa struggles with her sexuality (Monday at 7pm on ITV)

If Vanessa was hoping for discretion from Charity after their surprise one-night stand, she really should have read our "Curse of Charity" article for a much-needed reminder of the schemer's spiteful side. This week, Vanessa tries to put Charity out of her mind by heading out on a date with Daz Spencer... though why she agrees to The Woolpack as the choice of venue is anyone's guess.

With Charity watching on from behind the bar, she takes any opportunity she can to make the situation uncomfortable. Going a step further, Charity later exposes her fling with Vanessa at the pub, leaving the village vet mortified. Can Rhona help Vanessa to see that she doesn't need to be ashamed of her sexuality?

9. Hollyoaks: Tony starts to worry about Harry (Wednesday at 7pm on E4 / Thursday at 6.30pm on Channel 4)

Tony angrily kicked Harry out after he confessed to killing Amy (if only they both knew it was Duncan from Blue!), but is he already starting to have second thoughts about how he's treated his tormented son?

There's worrying news for Tony when he finds out that Harry never turned up at his mum's house, meaning that he's actually been missing for several days. Where is he? Could he have ended up on the streets? Most importantly, will Tony confide in Diane when she realises something is wrong?

10. Home and Away: Brody dumps Ziggy already (Thursday at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5)

It was all going so well, but Brody and Ziggy's new romance just isn't strong enough to survive the disapproval of the Astoni family this week. When Ben finds out that his daughter is dating the local bad boy, it leads to a huge family fallout – but it's Brody's reaction that comes as the biggest surprise.

Feeling guilty over causing so much family acrimony, Brody ends his relationship with Ziggy in the hope that it'll help her get back on better terms with her loved ones. Heartbroken Ziggy certainly doesn't see things that way, though, storming to her room and telling her parents that her personal life is none of their business. Was Brody's sacrifice all for nothing?
