Coronation Street fans already reckon that Amy Barlow is one of the top suspects in Ken's attack mystery, but now it seems that the characters on screen are starting to catch up.

Amy (Elle Mulvaney) comes under suspicion from her own mother Tracy next week after she makes a shocking move which has a huge impact on the entire case.

When Adam Barlow starts pointing the finger at Tracy (Kate Ford) as Ken's possible attacker, Amy won't stand for his insinuations and makes a secret phone call to the police with a very intriguing tip-off.

Amy tells the detectives to check the fingerprints on the new kitchen worktop that Pat Phelan fitted shortly before Ken's fall.

Taking this new information incredibly seriously, the police follow up on Amy's suggestion and it's not long before they're arresting Adam for the attempted murder of Ken.

When the police interview Adam, they reveal that they've found his fingerprints on the kitchen worktops at Number 1, which were only fitted on the night of Ken's assault.

The discovery appears to link Adam to the scene of the crime and – despite his cocky attitude – he may find it difficult to defend himself, especially since he previously lied that he was in Canada when the attack happened.

When Amy later reports back to Tracy and reveals that she's the reason Adam has been arrested, Tracy is horrified and finds herself wondering whether her 13-year-old daughter is actually covering her own tracks.

Could Tracy's worst fears be true? Could Amy have really pushed Ken that night? And is Tracy herself now in the clear if she genuinely suspects Amy?

Speaking about Adam's arrest, Samuel Robertson – who plays him – commented: "He's quite casual in the interview room, because he feels that there is not sufficient evidence to pin it on him. He's a trained lawyer, so he is clever and knows what is required to avoid prosecution.

"Adam has a bit more guile about him. He is a duplicitous fellow – he is either being really clever or he is guilty."

Coronation Street airs these scenes on Friday, April 21 at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
