Yahoo News Corrie confirms Christmas romance for Bethany and Craig
Coronation Street's Craig Tinker looks set to have a Christmas to remember when Bethany Platt reveals that she wants to be his girlfriend.
Craig (Colson Smith) has been harbouring feelings for his best friend Bethany for months, having been a pillar of support during her harrowing grooming ordeal.
Upcoming scenes will see Craig get his hopes up when he heads out to meet Bethany (Lucy Fallon), for what he believes is a date, only to be left mortified when he realises that she has other ideas.
Thankfully, Craig won't be left wallowing over his mistake for too long as it transpires that Bethany does want a relationship with him - but is understandably nervous given everything she's been through.
A memorable Boxing Day for Craig begins when his mentor Jess pops in to see him and urges him to apply for a job in the police force.
Already thrilled from Jess's encouragement, Craig's day then gets even better when Bethany tells him that she does want a relationship with him, but needs to take it slowly.
Show boss Kate Oates has already confirmed that the pair would be embarking on a tentative romance, much to the delight of their shippers.
Kate said to the Radio Times: "In news that should gladden the heart of even the most Scrooge-like curmudgeon – Bethany will embark on a tentative romance with Craig. Glad tidings indeed!"
Coronation Street airs these scenes in an hour-long episode on Boxing Day at 9pm on ITV.
