Coronation Street aired some upsetting scenes tonight (April 28) as Bethany Platt had sex with Neil, a stranger to her, in order to please her boyfriend Nathan.
Tonight's episode was the latest development in a long-running sex ring story, which has seen Nathan subtly begin to groom his much younger girlfriend in order to pimp her out to friends.
Viewers took to Twitter to talk about how disturbing and hard to watch they are finding the dark storyline, but praised the ITV soap for not shying away from highlighting a real-world issue.
While this storyline with Bethany is hard to watch, it's so important that it's highlighted. It happens. #Corrie- teegz (@teganzoeforster) April 28, 2017

Unfortunately for Bethany, it looks like the story is only set to get darker over the coming weeks.
Nathan will manipulate Bethany into sleeping with another stranger after she was raped by Neil, and when she starts to voice her unease about her situation, he will propose to her in order to keep her under his thumb.
