Corrie fans react to Anna Windass' shock guilty verdict
Coronation Street fans have been eagerly awaiting a (not guilty) verdict in Anna Windass' GBH trial, and tonight (January 22) her fate was finally revealed.
In an unfortunate – but not exactly surprising – turn of events, Anna was eventually found guilty of assaulting Seb Franklin, despite Seb defending his "attacker" on the witness stand.
Although we've known for a while that Debbie Rush, who plays Anna, would be leaving the Cobbles, there was still hope among fans that the long-time Corrie favourite would manage to evade Pat Phelan's evil plan to frame her.
In dramatic scenes, Anna emotionally protested her verdict and hurled abuse at her arch-nemesis "evil" Phelan before being sent to the cells to await her sentencing.
In the meantime, it looks as though viewers will be kick-starting a spin-off to the soap's iconic 'Free the Weatherfield One' campaign, with many calling for justice for Anna on social media.
#FreetheWindassOne, perhaps?
