Corrie icon joins Drag Race stars for North Wales panto with 'adults only' night
A star-studded line-up has been unveiled for a Christmas pantomime being staged in North Wales. Roles in a production of Cinderella will be played by a Corrie icon, a Sugababes singer and two contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The panto runs between December 7-31 at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, Denbighshire, with morning, matinee and evening performances. This year, an adults-only “Prank Night” will run on Saturday, December 21.
In announcing the cast, Denbighshire Leisure (DL) promised the festive production will be a “spectacular treat”. Playing the Wicked Stepmother will be TV star Beverley Callard, best known as Liz McDonald in ITV's Coronation Street. She’ll be joined by Sugababes sensation Amelle Berrabah, who steps into the role of the Fairy Godmother.

Also in the cast are Pixie Polite and Elektra Fence, both celebrated for their appearances on RuPaul’s Drag Race – they will bring larger-than-life performances to the roles of the Wicked Step-sisters. Owen Johnston, a finalist in ITV’s Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream show, will star as Prince Charming. Local talent Georgia Conway will take on the starring role of Cinderella.
Jamie Groves, managing director at DL, said the strong cast stemmed from last year’s rave reviews of Jack and the Beanstalk at the Pavillion Theatre. Performances featured Casualty’s Amanda Henderson and Graham Cole from The Bill.
Mr Groves said: “The exceptional feedback and reactions from our previous Christmas pantomimes have been overwhelmingly positive, and this year’s strong casting further cements Rhyl Pavilion Theatre as a premier destination for talented artists and performers.

Also in the ensemble cast are Lydia Harrison, Jessica Lowri, Archie Hyett and James Hill. Returning after a successful stint last year is young Britain’s Got Talent ventriloquist Jamie Leahey, who returns for a second Christmas to sprinkle more magic over the production.
The “no-filtered” Prank Night on December 21 (tickets £28) will provide a twist on the traditional panto experience. Pitched at adults, this will see the cast and crew play tricks on each other to provide a different level of humour.
