Yahoo News Corrie lines up proposal chaos after Robert attack
Coronation Street fans will see Robert Preston's engagement plans descend into chaos tonight (June 19) as his recent secrecy catches up with him.
Robert has decided to pop the question to Michelle Connor at the Bistro, but the reappearance of Tyler Jefferies on the cobbles threatens to wreck things for him.
Earlier this week, viewers saw Tyler (Will Barnett) return to the Street and punch Robert in the face, dropping the bombshell over Vicky's pregnancy.
As a stunned Robert tries to get answers from Tyler tonight, the Connors are all gathered at the Bistro to witness his big proposal.
Things go wrong when Michelle turns up before Robert has arrived back, leaving her family wrong-footed as they try to explain the romantic setting – and a balloon with the words "happy engagement".
Later, Robert finally turns up and pops the question to Michelle, but the fact that he's sporting a cut lip after his clash with Tyler may spark a few questions.
Will Robert start to spark suspicion already with his shifty behaviour? And is he playing with fire by going ahead with the proposal now that he knows about Vicky's pregnancy?
Tristan Gemmill, who plays Robert, recently warned: "The lies catch up with him, really. I think he probably intends to tell Michelle at some stage that he had a little fling when they were broken up, and they love each other so she would probably understand.
"But the fact of Vicky being pregnant complicates that and he is obviously sensitive towards Michelle with all the horrendous experiences she has been through with Ruairi.
"So Robert keeps it from her to protect her feelings, but then of course the longer he keeps something like that from her, the heavier the weight will be around his neck. Now it's about time for Robert to come clean, but will he?"
Coronation Street airs tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
