Freeman later added: “Can I just say – thank you for all the love and support I've received after making my sexuality aware on my socials.

"I really wasn't expecting it and it means the absolute world, you guys are amazing. I love you all.”

The actor was cast as Weatherfield’s Summer Spellman in 2017.

She said goodbye to the cobbles three years later in 2020 and the part was recast.

Addressing her decision during the Q & A, Freeman said that being on the ITV soap was a bit "limiting” as she also wanted to do other projects.

She told fans: “To be able to work on other shows, films and projects because when you work at Corrie you're under a contract which means you can't work on anything else while you're there – so it was quite limiting.”

Freeman has also appeared in other TV series such as Dropperz and Doctors.

In 2019, the actor had a role in the film The Last Boy.
