There's a new landlady in Coronation Street's Rovers Return and the actress who plays her can't quite believe it.

Georgia Taylor, whose character Toyah Battersby will be the 18th owner of the Rovers, said it's "a real honour" to be boss of the iconic pub.

"But it's a bit weird, because I don't feel old enough," she told The Express.

"I know that I am, but that's been my biggest problem. I feel about 18!

"It feels surreal to be honest. When I joined, I could never in my wildest dreams have imagined that I'd be landlady of the Rovers – that would have been ridiculous."

The actress first joined the soap 20 years ago and then left in 2003. She returned last Christmas when it was revealed she was having an affair with her sister's ex-husband Peter Barlow.

"There's a line in the script where Toyah says: 'I wish I could go back and tell that stroppy teenager that moved here all those years ago that one day she'd be the landlady.'

"It's a nice nod to how far Toyah has come," she added.

Coronation Street airs on ITV.
