Corrie viewers want to hug Craig

With a possible end in sight for Bethany Platt's abuse ordeal in Coronation Street, once again viewers have been praising her best friend for being there for her through it all.

Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) always says the right thing and tonight (July 19) he made sure Bethany knew exactly how "amazing" she is.

With Craig committed to bringing Neil down for his involvement in the whole thing, he told Bethany not to worry about his job, because it wasn't his priority.

"After everything you're still you, they haven't taken that. You're still funny, brilliant, sarcy Bethany," he told her.

She didn't believe him though, and said she wasn't "that person" anymore.

"Actually, you're right, you are different. You're stronger than ever," he replied. "You are dealing with it every day. You're fighting them and what they did to you every day.

"And on top of that, you're worried about me and my stupid job. You're amazing. You're the strongest person I know."

Viewers were torn between desperately wanting Bethany to fall in love with him and falling in love with him themselves.

As for a romance for the pair, there might be something in the future, but it will take a while to get there if it happens at all.

"I think for Bethany, it's like a really long process for her," Lucy Fallon recently teased.

"She's never going to get over what happened to her and it's a longer process to get to normality.

"I think Craig is going to help her and they've got a good friendship, but I don't know what's coming."

However, producer Kate Oates quickly chipped in: "He adores her!"

Ooohhh.
