Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley has urged journalists to ‘check their facts’ following claims that she only managed to sell 113 tickets to a recent gig.
The actress, who is currently trying to carve a name for herself in the music industry, took to Twitter to slam supposed news of the flop gig.
The mother-of-one told her 370,000 followers: “Certain papers should check facts before printing negativity…#yourkarma #slownewsday.”
Yesterday, The Sun newspaper claimed that Catherine has only managed to sell just over 100 tickets of the nearly 500 person capacity venue.
A source said: “You’d have expected far more tickets to have shifted by now. But the reception has been lukewarm.
“It’s a concern for the team at the theatre, who aren’t keen on letting the show go ahead with a lot of empty seats.”

After fans had rallied to support her, Catherine responded, saying: “Terrible journalism. Funny how they chose not to print the facts we gave them isn’t it?”.
The news comes just weeks after Catherine’s debut single rise failed to appear in the iTunes top 100 with one reviewer commenting: “Don’t quit your day job, sweetheart.”

The actress appeared on Loose Women last week in a bid to promote her show with an expected album release of December 3rd.
However, after the story broke, her spokesman responded that promotion will be ‘significantly boosted’.
He insisted: “Once people know about the show we are confident that ticket sales will be given a significant boost.”
