Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has begun work on her next project Scarborough, and it seems her character has run into a spot of bother.

The actress plays the role of Karen in the new BBC series from Benidorm's Derren Litten, a woman who decides to give her relationship with her ex Mike (Jason Manford) a chance following a split five years prior.

However, in new pictures taken during filming, it seems things have already hit a snag.

They've gotten into a bit of trouble with the police, with the pair pulling their best anxious faces.

Things look a bit more rosy in other snaps as the two also enjoy a fairground ride.

Here, the twosome looking decidedly happier – but who wouldn't in that scenario?

In the show, Mike has given up his dream of being a professional entertainer in order to focus on what's important to him in life and make up with Karen.

Alongside the pair, Scarborough will also star Brookside's Claire Sweeney, Still Open All Hours stars Stephanie Cole and Maggie Ollerenshaw, Benidorm's Steve Edge, White Gold's Harriet Webb and Kiri's Gina Fillingham.

Catherine – who's also due to star in gritty drama 15 Days – previously teased the show on her Instagram with a picture of the script.

"I don't think I've ever cried laughing in a read through before! WHAT a cast!!!!!!! And WHAT a series! Super excited! Can't wait for you guys to see this! Feeling extremely lucky and grateful," she captioned the snap.

Litten said of the new show: "I'm genuinely flattered by the calibre of actors my scripts have attracted and I can't wait for BBC audiences to get caught up in the laughter, love and intrigue I've created all set against the backdrop of this beautiful North Yorkshire fishing town."
