Coronation Street's Gail Rodwell makes a huge mistake next week as she tries to bring her troubled family back together.

Gail plays peacemaker by deciding to get David Platt, Nick Tilsley and Audrey Roberts all in the same room to discuss their differences, but her plan causes more harm than good when the police find out.

David (Jack P Shepherd) and Nick (Ben Price) are both supposed to be staying away from Audrey as part of their bail conditions, after they were arrested for stealing her £80,000 inheritance money.

Despite this, Gail is more focused on getting the trio talking again and comes up with what she thinks is a fool-proof plan.

Gail announces that her family have to pass around an ornament and only the person holding it can speak.

Warring Nick and David remain at loggerheads and tussle over the ornament, sending it flying. Will they both be in trouble when the police arrive and break things up?

Helen Worth, who plays Gail, explained: "Gail is worried about what Nick and David are both doing. Her boys have really got it in for each other and are only interested in self-preservation.

"Gail naively thinks that she can sort the situation out and get them all ironing out their issues. Typical Gail comes up with what she feels is a fool-proof plan and says that they all have to pass round an ornament and only the person holding it can speak.

"Of course this is something that might work with other people, but there is no way David and Nick are going to let the other speak without it all kicking off and that is exactly what happens."

She added: "David and Nick are in breach of their bail just being in the same room as Audrey, so when it all starts to kick off, it doesn't look good for anyone – especially when the police arrive."

Later on, Nick and David are forced to appear in court once again and Gail annoys Audrey by rushing off to look out for them. Show bosses are currently keeping tight-lipped about what the outcome will be.

Asked whether the Platts can ever reunite, Helen replied: "I think blood is thicker than water and they are a close family unit despite their differences, but I think the coming months are going to be some of the toughest they have been through.

"It will fall to the women of the family to hold things together while David and Nick battle it out."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
