Geoff Metcalfe has used a traumatic mugging to exert even more control over Yasmeen Nazir in Coronation Street.

The soap is currently exploring the important issue of coercive control abuse through the couple, as Geoff (Ian Bartholomew) begins to isolate Yasmeen (Shelley King) from her loved ones through manipulation.

This continued to a horrifying degree in Wednesday's episode (June 26) as he once again shamed her over the dinner party earlier in the week, this time complaining that her hangover meant they couldn't go on a walk as planned.

To get back at her, he tipped a drink over on Ryan Connor's (Ryan Prescott) mixing desk over at Speed Daal and allowed Yasmeen to think she was to blame for it.

As a befuddled Yasmeen ventured outside Speed Daal with the day's earnings, she was attacked by a mugger and dragged into a nearby alley.

Uncharacteristically, it was Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) who came to a shaken Yasmeen's aid and helped her back into No 6 where Geoff was horrified to hear about the mugging.

After police were called over to take her report, Yasmeen decided she wanted to go back to work and refused Geoff's demands that he walk with her.

However, she would later get a fright on her way home when it appeared someone menacing was following her all the way home. She rushed inside the flat to admit to Geoff that he was right to be concerned for her.

Although Geoff feigned concern in front of Yasmeen, he later flashed a sinister grin behind her back! He'd used been the one stalking her on the way home as a way to exert yet more coercive control.
