Corrie's Julia Goulding wants Clayton Hibbs back for longer stint

From Digital Spy

Coronation Street has been exploring the drama involving Shona Ramsey losing her memory after being shot at Christmas, showing how she is hesitant to commit to a relationship to her husband David Platt and how her behaviour has changed.

One aspect of her forgetting everyone and everything that hasn't really been touched upon much is her relationship with her son, Clayton Hibbs. The troubled youth, who was responsible for killing David's first wife Kylie Platt, only appeared briefly this year when Shona visited him in prison – and he tried to take advantage of Shona's situation by manipulating her.

Actress Julia Goulding thinks we should definitely see more of Clayton in future, but doesn't want the soap to bring him back again unless they've got a solid reason.

"I would like to (see him again)," she told Digital Spy and other media. "At the moment, I don't think there's room in her head for it.

"Obviously we saw a little bit of him when she came back and his mask slipped fairly quickly. I'm not sure how much repair can be done to that relationship.

"But it would be nice to see him back, but maybe not Shona trying again and again and again.

"But he's her son, so she's going to, isn't she? It would be nice to see him back if it was for a real reason and maybe for a good stint as well."

Shona and the Platt family are set to face a new drama imminently, as this week will see a giant sinkhole appear in the back garden.

Coronation Street currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
