The cost of a night out in Glasgow has increased by over 40 per cent in just two years.

A recent study analysed various factors such as travel costs, the price of a pint, weekend hotel rates, and the cost of post-night out grub to reveal the UK cities with the biggest increase in the cost of a night over the last two years.

The study has revealed Glasgow city has suffered the 5th biggest increase of prices across the UK with 40.60 per cent in the just 2 years.

It found that the total average cost of a night out in 2024 would be around £186, compared to £132 in 2022.

This includes the average hotel cost (weekend rate) at £157, taxi cost (per mile) £5.60, public transport cost (one way) £2.77, cost of three pints £13.50, and the price of a McDonalds meal at £7.

Oxford came in first with an increasing of a whopping 127.6 per cent since 2022. Prices in the city have risen drastically over the last two years, especially in the hospitality sector. Hotel prices rose by 160% thanks to the rising costs of operating in the industry, including higher labour costs due to a shortfall in staff numbers.
