A gastro pub in Rossendale has been hailed as one of the best. Famed for its ambience, The Coach at Edenfield has been given the prestigious Blue Ribbon for Delicious Dishes in the Good Food Awards.

Located in the heart of Rossendale, the pub is popular with walkers of the nearby Edenfield Waterfall and Dearden Clough. The Blue Ribbon accolade is given to restaurants, pubs and bars that ‘excel in food quality, service and value’ and also celebrate the team behind them.

The Coach team are clearly no strangers to winning awards though as they've recently been given another prestigious title. Last month, the pub was recognised by TripAdvisor as part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2024, honouring the top-rated places on the platform.

It serves a variety of dishes including brunch dishes, breakfasts and traditional meals, sourced using fresh, seasonal ingredients from local sustainable farms. You can even dine outside in one of their sheltered cabins - although in winter it's far better inside with their cosy roaring fire - thanks to a newly installed wood burning stove.

Publicans Dan Wilcock and Marc Beeston said the recognition is testament to the pub team's 'exceedingly hard' work

The menu changes often but has featured items such as pork and black pudding bon-bons, mushroom stroganoff, a 'soon-to-be-world-famous' cheese and onion pie and the show-stopping The Coach breakfast - consisting of two slices of bacon, Cumberland sausage, sautéed mushrooms, tomato, beans, eggs and toasted homemade bloomer.

Co-owner and publican Dan Wilcock said of what makes the pub special: “Our youthful, accommodating team offer friendly and ultra-efficient service. Offering a menu derived from Modern British cuisine with our signature twist, our country gastro pub oozes ambience soaked up by the local community”.

Recognition from the Good Food Awards comes from customer feedback, votes and online reviews. Dan added: “As a hub for Edenfield’s residents and a destination for many from further afield, The Coach brings a warm sense of welcome to all its guests.

“We thank each and every one of them for their continued support and are overwhelmed by their input into gaining this award! I’m so proud of the efforts from the whole team and want to personally thank everyone that cast a vote in our favour!”

Joint co-owner Marc Beeston also said: “We’ve worked exceedingly hard over the last six years to offer the immediate community not only exceptional food, local ale but a friendly space to work, chat, relax and enjoy themselves.

“This recognition makes the tough job worth every second, especially in these difficult times. We can’t thank our guests enough for thinking of us – not to mention the hard work of our team for getting us to where we are. Next stop is the Michelin Star!”
