I could have done more at Liverpool - but Luis Suarez was a phenomenon and father to me
Former Liverpool star Luis Alberto has reflected on his time at Anfield and praised his ex-teammate Luis Suarez. Alberto signed for the Reds from Sevilla in 2013 during Brendan Rodgers' era as manager. However, Alberto would go on to make just 12 appearances for Liverpool during his three years contracted to the club.
The 31-year-old had loan spells with Malaga and Deportivo La Coruna before being sold to Lazio in 2016 in a deal worth £6 million. Alberto failed to score a goal in a Liverpool shirt, with his one assist coming for Suarez in a 5-0 over Tottenham Hotspur in December 2013.
Now the playmaker, who last made an appearance for the Reds in January 2014 in the Merseyside derby against Everton, has reflected on his time at Anfield and praised Suarez for guiding him during his one-and-only season in English football. "Even in Liverpool the dressing room, was beautiful," he wrote in an open letter to Cronache di Spogliatoio.

"I could have done more: I could have stayed there, but I was young and I wanted to play, so I went. [Luis] Suarez was like a father to me there, he is a beautiful person. A phenomenon. I was always with him.
"I didn't play much but I learned, I saw that the Premier League is fantastic in everything, they have an organization that is the best."
After leaving Liverpool, Alberto went on to become an icon at Lazio where, he scored 52 goals with 79 assists across 307 appearances for the Serie A club. This summer saw Alberto's eight-year spell in Italy come to an end when he signed for Al-Duhail in Qatar in a deal reportedly worth €10 million (£8.4 million).
