EastEnders star Alex Ferns had cleared up the rumours that evil Trevor Morgan could return to Walford.

Recent reports had taken an interview he'd done out of context to make it sound like Trevor could be resurrected like Dirty Den, so, naturally, he was quizzed on a potential return on today's (April 20) Good Morning Britain.

"You never saw the body, let's put it that way," Alex joked when asked by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard if Trevor was coming back.

"It's gone mad, the news that I'm coming back. There is no word that I'm coming back. I would never say never. I just thought when I was interviewed by the papers about this play, I said wouldn't it be funny if the letterbox opened and you saw Trevor's eyes."

Alex's memorable EastEnders storyline saw Trevor abusing his wife Little Mo Slater, leading to the actor winning the Villain of the Year prize at the British Soap Awards in 2002.

His exit came when he took Little Mo and his son hostage, threatening to kill them all in a fire, only for Little Mo to light a match and anger Trevor by saying he wouldn't do it. He then grabbed Little Mo, causing her to drop the match, eventually leading to the house exploding with him in it.

And while Trevor might not be coming back to Walford, Alex made a soapland return in BBC Scotland's River City last month.

He plays menacing new character Rick Harper, a criminal with no moral code who is the illegitimate son of gangster Billy Kennedy, and who plans to bring down his rival Lenny Murdoch.
