Sir Elton John’s son doesn’t appear to be interested in following in his father’s musical footsteps.

The Rocket Man singer, 70, has seven-year-old Zachary and five-year-old Elijah with husband David Furnish.

Sir Elton revealed Zachary is a keen footballer who now plays for Watford Academy.

Speaking to the Daily Star about his children he said: “They’re thriving. They’re seven and five now. Zachary is incredibly into soccer. He plays for the Watford Academy team.

“We want them to have a normal life, to go to school and not be celebrity kids.”

Sir Elton is a lifelong Watford FC fan and became chairman in 1976. He even has a stand at the club’s Vicarage Road ground named in his honour and was made an Honorary Life President.

The singer recently announced plans for a global three-year Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour before quitting touring for good, telling fans his “priorities have changed” since becoming a father.

“We had children and that changed my life,” he said at a global press conference in January. “In 2015 we sat down with a school schedule and I realised that I don’t want to miss all of that.”

The Candle in the Wind singer – who is expected to attend the Royal Wedding this weekend – will play more than 300 shows over a three year period, kicking off in the US on September 8.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will reach Europe in April 2019, Asia in November 2019 and Australasia in December 2019.

He will play South America in March 2020, before returning to Europe and the UK in late 2020 and finishing in North America in 2021.
