Could a chippy be coming to Yarm?

Owners of Tomahawk Steakhouse have asked residents if there is a demand for a good quality fish and chip shop.

“If it is, we could bring this fish and chip shop to the high street,” they teased on Facebook. The post was met with more than 80 comments - and of course the answer was yes.

Tomahawk Steakhouse Yarm posted: “Yarm residents we need your help… As you may know there is now no fish and chips on Yarm High Street. We at Tomahawk want to know if the demand is still there for a good quality fish & chip shop?

"If it is, we could bring this fish and chip shop to the high street. Let us know in the comments.”

One woman wrote: “Definitely still room for a chippy, would be lovely to walk by the river with!” While another added: “A traditional fish & chip shop. Yes.”

“Definitely,” “100% yes please” and “I’m sure they will fly out”, were among the other comments on the post on Wednesday.

Barnacles previously occupied 105 High St, Yarm, but has closed its doors. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled to see if the Yarm chippy comes to fruition.
