It feels like forever since Shane was on The Walking Dead, but is there any chance we'll see the character again in the show's universe?

That was the question posed by the Daily Express to Shane actor Jon Bernthal. With Morgan Jones (Lennie James) moving to spin-off Fear the Walking Dead's fourth season, it seems that AMC is open to crossovers if the idea is right.

Bernthal – who now stars in Netflix's The Punisher – doesn't think it's likely to happen, though.

"I loved Shane, and whilst I'm super grateful I got to do that, he was a character that had a beginning, middle and end, and I got a whole rounded opportunity," he said. "I feel like we've seen all we need to see of Shane.

"If we got to see him backwards, that would be interesting. But Shane died in that field.

"Doing the show and being killed off the show are two of the best things that have happened in my career."

From a timeline perspective, the only way we would see Shane again is via a flashback or even on prequel series Fear the Walking Dead.

Pictures for season four have seen Morgan in action with his stick, which places events at least after The Walking Dead's season three episode 'Clear'. (There's also a chance Fear will see a time jump and that Morgan will join up with the Clarks after The Walking Dead season eight.)

Shane, of course, died at the end of The Walking Dead season two, killed by Rick.
