Council are 'deeply saddened' after Grade II-listed building destroyed in Warwick
Councillors have said they are 'deeply saddened' after a large blaze engulfed a Grade II-listed building in Warwick. It happened just off Fusiliers Way.
Crews from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) were called to the incident at around 3pm on Monday (October 28). Smoke was seen billowing from a two-storey building on Gallows Hill.
Firefighters used hose reel jets to tackle the blaze, which had engulfed the first floor and roof space of the building. Nobody was believed to have been injured.

Police are continuing to investigate what sparked the blaze, and 24-hour security remains in place at the site, Warwick District Council said. Officials will also be taking steps to 'make the remaining structure safe and prevent any further damage.'
In a statement to CoventryLive, Warwick District Council said: “We are deeply saddened to report that a fire which broke out on Monday (October 28) has caused substantial damage to the Grade II-listed former farmhouse located just off Fusiliers Way.
“Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service continue to monitor the building, and 24-hour security around the site will remain in place. Officers from Warwick District Council will then undergo measures to make the remaining structure safe and prevent any further damage.”
A spokesman for Warwickshire Police added: “An investigation is open into the causes of the fire on Fusiliers Way. If you saw anything, particularly if you have CCTV or dashcam footage, contact us citing incident 210 of October 28.”
