Following reports of persistent antisocial behaviour and criminal activities, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has successfully secured a full closure order for a property in Bridlington.

The order, granted by Beverley magistrates on October 11, prohibits anyone from entering the ground-floor flat at 5 Pinfold Street for a period of three months, with exceptions made for council officers, police, emergency services, and utility providers.

Those found breaching the order without a valid reason may face fines, imprisonment, or both.

The decision comes after the council's antisocial behaviour team received numerous complaints, which had significantly impacted the well-being and safety of nearby residents. According to the council, it had made some residents afraid to leave their home.

In response, the council pursued a full closure order to safeguard the local community and prevent further harm.

Nigel Brignall, manager of the anti-social behaviour team, stated: "We take antisocial behaviour seriously and will take stringent action to protect local communities."

"The antisocial behaviour officer was commended by magistrates for a thorough assessment of the individual in question’s behaviour, and identifying the need to protect and support residents affected by activity at this property."
