Count Binface issues 'astronomical apology' as he cancels Liverpool show
Count Binface has issued "astronomical apologies" after cancelling his Liverpool gig tonight. The satirical novelty candidate created by the comedian Jonathan David Harvey was due to perform at the Hot Water Comedy Club as part of his debut comedy tour Bindependence Day.
Count Binface rose to prominence when he stood as a candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip in the 2019 United Kingdom general election against the then prime minister, Boris Johnson, and again at the 2023 by-election that followed Johnson's resignation. He stood in the London Mayoral elections in 2021 and 2024, and in the 2024 general election against the prime minister, Rishi Sunak, in his Richmond and Northallerton constituency - securing an endorsement from the Daily Star.

Binface is an "independent space warrior" in a black and grey uniform, with a long silver cape and a helmet shaped somewhat like a dustbin with a glowing strip where his eyes would be. He describes himself as the leader of the Recyclons from the planet Sigma IX, and claims to be over 5,900 years old.
On X, he said: "LIVERPOOL! There was me thinking I'd save rocket fuel and come to you on the 'train', and hey presto, there have been massive problems today which means I'm not going to make it to my gig tonight. Astronomical apologies, but we're going to find another date soon. CB x"
@GillH1973 replied: "That's a shame Binface, we're here booked in Liverpool tonight." @RobertMeacock said: "Damn, was looking forward to it. Ah well, can't be helped." @sarahchamayo added: "Absolutely gutted but I hope you're alright!" Binface replied: "I’m fine - a victim of circumstance. I’ll be back!"
The tour features Binface's unique take on Britain, his special brand of sci-fi satire, and his manifesto. For more information on tour dates, click here.
