Counter-Demonstrators Face Off Against Anti-Immigration Protesters in Aldershot

A group of protesters gathered in Aldershot chanting “Refugees are welcome, fascists are not” and holding banners against the far-right on Wednesday, August 7.

People rallied across the country, following reports that at least 100 anti-immigrant marches were being planned for Wednesday night.

Footage filmed by X user @BasedMillwall shows the group of protesters chanting various slogans.

Other footage posted to X shows a group of right-wing protesters on the other side of the road shouting “Communist scum, off our streets.”

According to news reports, the two groups of protesters later clashed, and had to be separated by police.

Aldershot was the site of a protest outside an hotel housing asylum seekers which turned violent last week, on Wednesday, July 31. Local police said they arrested seven people in connection with the incident. Credit: @BasedMillwall via Storyful
