A County Durham man has slammed Northern Kin festival, who have kept him waiting for three months for a refund after the date of the festival was changed.

John Million, from Consett, splashed out £272.99 on weekend camping tickets for him and his wife Kathryn to attend Northern Kin Festival in June. When organisers announced in May that the festival at Thornley Hill Farm would be moved from June to August due to the "worst 18 months of rainfall for nearly 200 years", John was offered three options.

He could keep his tickets and use them for new dates from August 9 - 11, use them for the 2025 festival, or get a refund. John and Kathryn chose the third option.

However, three months on, the refund is nowhere in sight, despite John's repeated attempts to get in touch with the festival organisers and CM Tickets, the ticketing company who he booked through. He claims that Northern Kin have completely stopped responding to his emails.

John, who is a customer account manager for a finance and leasing company, told ChronicleLive: "They're full of false promises. We've got other places we could have been but haven't been able to go because they've kept hold of our money.

"They don't respond to emails, it's very, very frustrating to be honest. It's not £25, it's £273. I want my money back".

Northern Kin said that due to GDPR reasons, they were unable to discover individual ticketing queries, such as John's. In a statement, a spokesperson for Northern Kin said: "We can confirm that over 80% of all refunds have now been processed.

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, this process has taken longer than planned. But all refunds are expected to be completed by the end of August, including the customer in question, and those who have yet to receive their refund will have an update before the end of the month."

ChronicleLive has approached CM Tickets for comment.
