County finals rescheduled for next weekend after Storm Ashley hits Ulster GAA fixtures

County boards across Ulster have moved to swiftly reschedule various county finals after four big games were postponed on Sunday due to Storm Ashley.

The senior football finals in Armagh, Fermanagh and Tyrone were postponed as was the Derry SHC final featuring champions Slaughtneil and Banagher.

While the games in Omagh and Enniskillen were called off earlier in the day, officials in Armagh and Derry played Intermediate finals before cancelling the senior games.

At the Box-It Athletic Grounds, scaffolding behind the goals at the Nialls Crescent end of the venue collapsed during the Intermediate final between Carrickcruppen and St Paul’s.

The senior final between Lurgan rivals Clann Eireann and Clan na Gael has been refixed for Saturday, October 26 at 6pm.

The Tyrone final between holders Trillick and 2022 winners Errigal Ciaran will take place at O’Neill’s Healy Park at 7.30pm on Friday while the Derry hurling final is on Saturday at Owenbeg.

It will form part of a double-header with the Ulster Club JFC opener between Craigbane (Derry) and Killeeshil (Tyrone).

The Fermanagh decider between Enniskillen Gaels and Belleek has been rescheduled for next Sunday at Brewster Park at 4pm while the Derry SFC between All-Ireland champions Glen and Newbridge is also set to take place next Sunday at Celtic Park at 3.30pm.
