Couple desperate to find beloved dog that ran from Penzance crash
A couple have been left frantically searching for their beloved rescue dog after he ran off following a car crash. Julie James and her partner Wayne Reeves were approaching the junction at Long Rock near The Range store in their car when a van driver who they said didn't look where he was going cut them off.
Both Julie and Wayne were hurt in the head-on collision that saw their car written off, but to make things worse, their two dogs Candy and Pepper became detached in the crash and ran off when the doors opened on impact. The two Jack Russell cross pets escaped and bolted before Julie and Wayne, who were themselves injured, could do anything.
Julie said Candy ran across the bypass that leads to Penzance and onto the central reservation and was found safe and sound on a roundabout at Marazion, three miles away.

However Candy's brother Pepper also ran off and has not yet been located. Julie said she and Wayne have spent two days frantically looking for Pepper despite being in pain themselves from injuries received during the crash.

She said that Pepper disappeared in the wooded area near the bypass and may have fallen down a hole or drain in an area that is very overgrown.
"We had a sniffer dog out with us on Saturday but it lost the smell because of the bad weather. There was also an unconfirmed sighting in Gulval that we have been trying to check.
"Pepper and Candy are two Romania rescue dogs. Pepper is three and we've only had them for 10 months. A lady who runs a veg shop told us she heard some yapping in that wooded area. We've been there and also heard it but we can't locate it. It's been quite distressing."
Julie said she and Wayne plan to take Candy with them to the area to see if the dog might be able to locate her brother. The distraught couple have also received help from Dog Lost Cornwall whose volunteers have agreed to help and will have their trained sniffer dog with them when they get down to Long Rock.
Julie is asking would-be helpers not to go searching for Pepper but let her and Wayne and the Dog Lost volunteers to carry out the search without any hindrance.
However, anyone who may have spotted Pepper, a male black and white Jack Russell terrier cross, is asked to contact Julie on 07939 699250.
