Couple left girls, aged four and 11, alone on holiday in Majorca while they went out to get 'paralytic' drunk
A mother has hit out at a couple arrested in Majorca who she claims left two young girls to be looked after by her and other strangers while they were out getting “paralytic”.
Amanda Wignall said the couple “don’t deserve children” after claiming they repeatedly left the girls, aged four and 11, alone while they went out drinking.
The couple were reportedly arrested by Spanish police on Thursday and the children left with social services until their mother was released. Her partner was also apparently not allowed to fly home to Scotland with them.
Mum-of-two Amanda, 37, was staying at the island’s Club Palma Bay resort with her husband and four-year-old when she spotted the two dancing on their own.
Warning that the situation could have become “another Maddie McCann” story, she told MailOnline the children were left with four different families over the course of two days.
She said the 11-year-old told her it wasn’t the first time her mother and step-father, believed to be in their late 40s or early 50s, had abandoned them on holiday.
Mrs Wignall bumped into friend Kate Lees and realised she had been looking after the girls as well.

Kate told MailOnline: “One night we saw them on their own and when we eventually found the mum she was absolutely paralytic.
“She was so drunk she couldn’t even lift her head up to speak to us, let alone string a sentence together.”
The women claim another couple also ended up looking after the girls.
They later heard that the girl’s mother and stepfather had been arrested, leaving the children being looked after by a children’s entertainer.
A spokesman for the National Police in Majorca said: “National Police officers have arrested a British couple who were on holiday as the suspected authors of a crime of child abandonment.”
They described how the parents had been warned not to leave their children so had then persuaded another British couple to look after them, later assaulting a woman who had been looking after the children.
It is believed a child protection meeting was set to take place in Scotland.
Mrs Wignall added: “The whole thing is absolutely shocking. When you have children they are your responsibility and your responsibility alone.’
“It’s absolutely disgusting, they don’t deserve to have children, let alone take them abroad.”
Writing on Facebook after she arrived back in the UK, Mrs Wignall’s friend Kate Lees revealed the shocking story.
She said: “Never have I witnessed such awful disgusting parenting and fear in two small faces.
“Parents if you want a holiday abroad and get off your face leave your kids at home.”
