Coventry home fills with smoke as garden shed and outbuilding 'go up in flames'

Firefighters battled a large blaze that ripped through a shed and an outbuilding in Coventry. It happened at an address in Wyken on Friday (September 6).

Crews from Canley and Foleshill rushed to the scene at around 2.30pm A 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle also attended.

Smoke could be seen billowing from a garden shed and an outbuilding at an address on Farren Road. Firefighters spent around 45 minutes extinguishing the blaze using a hose reel jet and a main jet, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Crews spent around an hour ventilating the property, which had been affected by heat damage, West Midlands Fire Service said. Nobody was believed to have been injured.

In a statement issued today (September 9), West Midlands Fire Service said: “We received multiple calls at around 2.33pm on Friday (September 6) to reports of a shed on fire in the garden of a property in Wyken. A fire engine from Canley and a fire engine and 4x4 Brigade Response Vehicle from Foleshill attended.

“Crews found that the incident involved one shed and another outbuilding on fire at the rear of a property on Farren Road. Some heat and smoke damage also occurred to the main property.

“One hose reel jet and one main jet were used, and the fire was confirmed out by 3.13pm. Smoke was cleared from the affected property, and we left the scene at 5.10pm.”
