Coventry pub to undergo £350,000 revamp and will open before Christmas

A much-missed Coventry pub that closed earlier this year will soon be reopening following an investment of £350,000. The Roseycombe in Binley Woods will welcome people back just in time for Christmas.

The Roseycombe closed in February this year but is being revamped by Heineken-owned Star Pubs and Midlands-based operators Roseacre Pub Company, who also run The Heathcote Inn in Leamington Spa. Bosses say it will be transformed into a 'top quality' pub with 'great food.'

It is scheduled to reopen just before Christmas and will create 25 jobs. Coventry-born Gary Broadhurst will be at the helm and said he will be 'going all out' to bring 'festive spirit' to Binley Woods.

As part of the £350,000 project, the outside of the building will be repainted, and the signage and lighting will also be replaced. Bosses say they will initially be serving drinks only, with food set to be launched in January.

Customers will also be able to enjoy a 'stunning' garden, which is promised to be 'the best' in Binley. It will have five eight-seater dining pods, an outside bar, and a heated alfresco drinking and dining patio covered with a stretch tent that can be booked for functions, Mr Broadhurst said.

Works will also be taking place inside the building to make it 'warm and welcoming.' Bosses say the new décor will incorporate heritage colours, and there will also be buttoned-back seating. Dishes will be freshly prepared and will include British favourites, such as Fish and Chips.

Owner of Roseacre Pub Company, Ash Gartshore, said: “We have been looking for a pub around Coventry for years and feel very fortunate to have found The Roseycombe. It has been much missed during its closure, so we want to restore it as the heartbeat of the community and create a fantastic local with something for everyone.”

Licensee Gary Broadhurst added: “We cannot wait to welcome residents and show them their new look local! We will be going all out to add to the festive spirit in Binley Woods.”
