COVID-19: Philippine embassy in S'pore reminds citizens to avoid large gatherings

SINGAPORE — The Philippine embassy has reminded the Filipino community in Singapore to avoid large gatherings as well as other crowded places here, in support of the local authorities’ efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Given that large gatherings of Filipinos continue to be held in Singapore, the embassy “strongly” reiterated its reminder on the precautionary measure in a Facebook post on Friday (28 February).

The embassy stressed that Singapore’s Disease Outbreak Response System Condition (Dorscon) is currently at “orange”, which means that large gatherings - be they social, business or religious - and crowded places are to be avoided.

It also urged domestic helpers to coordinate rest days with their employers, in order to ensure that “concrete steps are taken to protect their households from COVID-19 infection”.

According to the Philippine embassy website, an estimated 200,000 Filipinos live and work in Singapore
