Cowboys vs. Raiders: Score, results, highlights from Sunday night game in Oakland

Sporting News provided live updates throughout the Cowboys' 20-17 win over the Raiders on Sunday night.

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr fumbled through the end zone with 31 seconds to play, allowing the Cowboys to secure a 20-17 win Sunday night in Oakland, Calif.

Dallas (8-6) kicked a field goal with 1:44 remaining to take the lead before Oakland (6-8) drove downfield for a chance to win. Carr lost the ball while diving for the pylon, turning it over to the Cowboys, who held on for the victory.

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw two interceptions but also rushed for a score. Rod Smith also added a score on the ground for Dallas.

Carr did throw two touchdowns to Michael Crabtree in the losing effort, while Marshawn Lynch rushed for 76 yards.

Final score: Cowboys 20, Raiders 17

11:47 p.m.: Dallas takes a knee and runs out the clock to secure a three-point win.

11:43 p.m.: Turnover, Raiders. Carr attempts to scramble into the end zone for a go-ahead score. He gets to the sideline, dives for the end zone but comes up short and then fumbles the ball. It rolls out of the end zone for a touchback, giving the ball back to Dallas with 31 seconds left.


11:39 p.m.: Facing a fourth-and-10, Derek Carr lobs a pass deep down field to Michael Crabtree. He doesn’t come down with the football but Dallas is called for pass interference. Oakland now has it at the Cowboys' 15 with 50 seconds to play.

11:33 p.m.: Field goal, Cowboys. Dallas chews up 4:46 of game time and moves all the way to the Raiders' 5 after Prescott’s pass to Bryant. But the Cowboys are kept out of the end zone after three short runs and settle for a field goal. They now lead 20-17 with 1:44 to play.

11:27 p.m.: Prescott connects with Dez Bryant down the sideline for a 40-yard gain, moving Dallas to the Oakland 5 with two minutes remaining.

11:21 p.m.: Dallas is originally ruled to have picked up a first down on a completion from Prescott to Jason Witten, but after replay review, Witten is ruled to have come up a yard short of the marker. The Cowboys elect to go for it on fourth-and-1 and just manage to convert on a quarterback sneak by Prescott. Dallas now has it at its 40 with a fresh set of downs.


11:14 p.m.: Jared Cook drops a pass on third down that would have moved the chains and Oakland is forced to punt. Dallas will start its drive at its 24 with 6:30 to play.

11:09 p.m. : Dallas is called for holding and never recovers as it goes three-and-out. The Cowboys punt and the Raiders will take over with 8:15 to play and the score tied.

11:01 p.m.: Touchdown, Raiders. Oakland puts together a 10-play, 53-yard drive that ends with a 2-yard touchdown catch by Michael Crabtree to tie the score, 17-17. Crabtree has seven receptions and two scores in the game.

End of third quarter: Cowboys 17, Raiders 10

10:40 p.m.: Touchdown, Cowboys. Prescott drops back to pass but can’t find anyone open. He keeps it himself and runs into the end zone for a 5-yard score to give Dallas a 17-10 lead with 45 seconds left in the third quarter.

10:33 p.m.: The Cowboys appear ready to punt after Prescott throws an incomplete pass on third down, but they run a fake and punter Chris Jones runs for 24 yards to keep Dallas’ drive alive.

10:27 p.m.: Field goal, Raiders. Oakland fails to punch it in after the Cowboys' turnover as Carr throws two incompletions and Marshawn Lynch registers a short run. Giorgio Tavecchio hits a 39-yard field goal to tie the score 10-10 with 6:14 left in the third quarter.

10:21 p.m.: Turnover, Cowboys. Prescott is hit as he throws and the pass is picked off by Sean Smith, who runs it into the end zone. After review, Smith is ruled down by contact and the Raiders will take over at their 22.

10:15 p.m.: Touchdown, Oakland. Carr finds Michael Crabtree on a fade route in the end zone for a 2-yard score three plays after his long run. The Raiders now trail 10-7.

10:13 p.m.: Carr again scrambles for a first down. This time, he runs for 32 yards and moves Oakland to the Dallas 21.

10:06 p.m.: We’re back for the second half in Oakland. Cordarrelle Patterson returns the kickoff 100 yards to the end zone but the play is negated by a holding penalty. The Raiders will instead start their drive at their 10.

Halftime: Cowboys 10, Raiders 0

9:49 p.m.: Oakland finally strings together a long drive but it ends with no points. Jared Cook appears to have an 11-yard touchdown catch for the Raiders with 14 seconds to play in the half, but he’s called for offensive pass interference, negating the score. Carr follows with an incomplete pass and Giorgio Tavecchio enters to attempt a 39-yard field goal. He misses wide left and the Raiders head into halftime trailing by 10.

9:35 p.m.: Dak Prescott’s pass to Cole Beasley on third down falls incomplete and the Cowboys punt. Oakland will start its drive at its 31 with 3:08 to play in the half.

9:25 p.m.: Oakland picks up one more first down but fails to move the chains again. It punts and the Cowboys will take over on their 10.

9:19 p.m.: Carr escapes the pocket and scrambles for 7 yards to pick up the Raiders' first first down of the game with 11:55 to play in the second quarter.

9:10 p.m.: Touchdown, Cowboys. Dallas puts together an eight-play, 65-yard drive that ends with a 1-yard touchdown run by Rod Smith. Dallas has outgained Oakland 153-7 so far and leads 10-0.

End of first quarter: Cowboys 3, Raiders 0

9:06 p.m.: The Raiders finish the first quarter with 7 total yards and no first downs.

8:59 p.m.: Derek Carr throws a pass behind a wide-open Michael Crabtree on third down and the Raiders punt again.

8:50 p.m.: Field goal, Cowboys. The Cowboys move to the Oakland 27 but their drive stalls when Prescott throws an incomplete pass on third down. Dan Bailey enters and kicks a 45-yard field goal to give the Cowboys a 3-0 lead. Cowboys running back Alfred Morris has already tallied 51 yards on the ground.

8:42 p.m.: The Raiders go three-and-out on their first drive and punt. Dallas will take over on its 32.

8:37 p.m.: Turnover, Cowboys. Dallas advances to the Oakland 35 on an 18-yard pass from Dak Prescott to Jason Witten, but three plays later, another Prescott pass intended for Witten is picked off by Oakland cornerback Sean Smith, who returns it to the Raiders' 30.

8:30 p.m.: We’re underway in Oakland. The Cowboys win the toss and elect to receive. They’ll start the game’s opening drive at their 25.

7:55 p.m.: The Cowboys and Raiders have both announced their inactives.
